Boko Haram is a deadly insurgency sect known as Jama’t Alhul Sunnah Lidda’ Wat. Wal Jihad means a group that champions the propagation of the teachings of Prophet Muhammed. The group has caused huge damage to the Nigeria government and its citizens since it became radicalized. There is controversy over the origin of the sect amongst scholars. The paper highlights the historical antecedents of Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria. It explores the origin of Boko Haram, strategy and activities in Nigeria.

Online dating is not new to the world, with numerous chatrooms and crimes which follow; child pornography, pedophilia, cybercrime, cyber bullying and today the integration of terrorism. Though some may find their perfect match online, the major reason for some daters is the quest for a visa to Europe. This paper addresses some of the techniques used by criminals to request for a visa to Europe, raise funds and traffic drugs, while at the same time appeal for proper security for future threats in Europe, and America in Particular.

This paper explores the genesis of al Shabaab, the modus operandi, fundraising and strategies used to receive funding from abroad. It provides insight on human security threats in East Africa and the challenges faced by Somalia in particular. Highlighting the responses by the African Union (A.U) and countries in the region, the paper equally discusses the role of external actors such as the United Nations, the United States support to counter terrorism in Somalia. The paper argues that although significant progress is being made to develop coherent counterterrorism approaches in East Africa, there are still some challenges. They include internal wrangling’s, increasing Islamic radicalization, competing national interest, and the dynamics of counter-terrorism in Africa.
